Understanding Compression Molding

Compression molding is a process where pre-measured materials are placed into a heated mold cavity. The mold is then closed, applying pressure to shape the material. This technique is ideal for producing complex shapes and parts with high precision. The process involves several key steps:

Material Preparation
Raw materials, often in the form of sheets or pellets, are prepared for molding.

Mold Heating
The mold is preheated to a specific temperature to facilitate material flow and curing.

Material Placement
The prepared material is placed into the mold cavity.

Compression and Curing
The mold is closed, and pressure is applied. The heat activates the material, allowing it to flow and fill the mold while simultaneously curing it into its final shape.

Cooling and Ejection
Once the curing process is complete, the mold is cooled before the finished part is ejected.
